Safe Incision(sm) - The Procedure

Whether you elect to have Safe Incision(sm) ReSTOR® lens replacement, or your doctor tells you that you must have a cataract removed, it can seem frightening. But, once you understand the procedure, we think you'll agree that our Safe Incision(sm) ReSTOR® Surgery is one of the safest, most effective types of surgery. It's also one of the most successful.

After you and your eye doctor have decided that lens replacement or cataract surgery is right for you, Dr. Beim will determine the proper power of your new lens, customized for your particular eye.

Safe Incision(sm) ReSTOR® Surgery is an outpatient procedure. It is painless, and takes about 15 minutes. Although it's performed in an operating room, no hospital stay is necessary. You will spend about two hours in the hospital.

When you arrive, your eyes will be treated with eye drops for dilating purposes. An anesthetic is used to minimize any discomfort during the procedure.

During this routine procedure, a small incision is made. Dr. Beim uses a computer-assisted instrument the size of a pen tip to remove your clear lens or clouded lens (cataract).

After the original lens is safely removed, Dr. Beim will implant the ReSTOR® intraocular lens.

"I had the ReSTOR lens surgery in August, 2005, with perfect results. I had worn trifocal glasses or bifocal contacts for 50 years. I can now see things at a distance, which I could never see before or read the newspaper, a book, or work on the computer without reading glasses. I am so excited and happy with my new vision, I tell all my relatives and friends about ReSTOR implants. Within four (4) weeks of my surgery, I was back to riding and competing in barrel racing events on my horses. Thank you for sharing my amazing and wonderful experience with ReSTOR. Thank you Dr. Beim for changing my life."
